Dorito

10/27 Can you believe Dorito has been with us for over a year now. Wow, time
flies! I have attached some pictures of Dorito's first year with us.

Dorito is doing better than any of us thought she would ever do. She loves
to run and chase the birds and critters. She has the cutest facial
expressions, a whimsical disposition and an energetic personality. Everyone
who meets her loves her and those who come to know her want to keep her,
but, no way, she is ours forever!!! Thank you and Boxer Buddies again and
again for bringing us together.

6/20 - Dorito is doing great much better than we dared hope when she came to us, she now thinks that she is a bird dog and chases them over the fields and cranberry bogs. Since the hot weather has come she suddenly likes running in water, before she would avoid the smallest puddle. She had her Bi yearly check up and weighed in at 48lbs, since being spayed she no longer wants to go to the vets. We took her to Chebeauge Island in Maine last week, she loved the beach and crab legs that she kept finding, she would run around holding them in the air. Every day we think how lucky we are to have her.

Dorito went in to be spayed yesterday, everything went good and she is at home with me recuperating. While she was there they did some x-rays of her hips and back the Vet said that although her hips are not great they are fair to good and they expect them to get better as she grows. They also would like to take some more when she has finished growing. The x-rays of the spine showed significant calcification in the exact place that they wanted to see it, the calcification is fusing the spine. This is terrific as this stabilization should help to make the spine stronger and help protect the spinal cord. She keeps improving and already seems to be over getting spayed, the vet has asked that she not run or play to energetically for the next twelve days. Over the Xmas weekend we stayed at Jolie's sisters house where the stairs are carpeted, Dorito had no problem going both up and down the stairs (: Hope you had a good Christmas and we wish you all a happy New Year, Dorito say Happy New Year to Emily and Chance.

I would first like to thank Boxer Buddies (especially Michelle) for taking great care of me and finding me my new home. I would also like to thank everyone who donated for my care while I was in my foster home.

I am doing soooo much better than anyone could have imagined. I love my new home and I love my new mother and father who I play with in our big yard where I run around like crazy. When I first got here I could only run a little and fell whenever I tried to turn. I now run figure eights and spin around without falling. We also go for walks around the cranberry bogs and sometimes Riley (An Irish Setter puppy) comes with us. I can now go up stairs but still have a little trouble coming down. I have come down the stairs a couple of times, but I prefer to be carried. I get to go to work every weekday and visit all my buddies there. I roam around the office looking for someone to play or make a fuss with me, which they all do and as my toys are everywhere it’s not hard to get someone to throw them for me. My favorite day is Wednesday, that’s when my best buddy Juma  (A South African Mastiff) comes in, we play all day and some times when I get a bit loud I have to have down time in my fathers office. I took my father to obedience training and we did very well, we even got a diploma last week. I have visited the vets a few times I’m scheduled to be spayed on Dec 29th, (I’m told I can’t run for two weeks after, not looking forward to that as I love to chase the squirrels and birds in the yard). At the same time they will x-ray my hips and spine to see how I’m progressing, I’ll keep you posted on how they come out.
